I’m sure you want to try us out before you consider joining: email Anne or Elizabeth and tell us your T*pl* connection and who you’re looking for. Please give at least one name, date and place combination if you have one: for example, ‘John Taplin of Hampshire’ is hardly adequate.
Don’t expect a complete answer: you’ll probably get a brief summary of how many people we have of that name, how many in that place, and the date ranges of both, maybe also a suggestion of sources to try. If we can identify your specific person from what you tell us, we’re more likely to tell you we know of x-generations before and after him, than to tell you their names; we’ve been caught out like that before!
This first answer will just be a taster, click here for the benefits of membership. All our members have gone through this, and most of them have contributed to the index on that basis, it wouldn’t be fair to them if we changed our system now.
If you request it, we would delete any private information you’ve sent after we have answered you, then you'd never hear any more from us or any other fellow researchers through us. I'm glad to say no-one has refused permission in the many years we’ve been running, although we have 'lost' one or two who presumably didn't like the reply. One person just ‘took and ran’ from the two related members we found him, without exchanging any info that they didn't already know - although he was not from their branches of the family, so must at least have known his own ancestry back to the common point!!!
No computer?
Not all our members have computers so, if you’re looking at this on behalf of someone else, please assure them they will be just as welcome without internet access. Only the communication method will be different, once they’ve joined, and they will be asked to pay a nominal amount for the newsletters if we have to post them.
The easiest is to get them in front of your computer but, if that’s not possible, please visit the Join Us page and send us your email address, we will then get in touch and can provide you with further information on postal membership.
